Digital Literacies and my Identities

Hello! My name is Najwa Aqela from XI-7. My absent number is 29.

The first thing I think about digital literacies is that you can do or make lots of stuff or activites on the internet, such as playing games or studying/researching. Technology has grown so much over the years and has been used by so many people worldwide currently. How come? Because the internet can be used for gaining knowledge, entertainment, communication, and the list goes on.

What some people don't know is that in the internet, lots of threats may be hidden in websites that they've already clicked on, that they may not even know until it's already too late. Therefore, we have to be careful with each website we go to, and make sure that we don't click on any random pop-up ads or suspicious links on the screen while we are scrolling through said websites.

Sometimes, we may also scroll through some information of any kind while we are browsing the internet. We may think that "oh, this looks cool. Let me have a try," or, "Oh, I need to tell this to my friends and family," as we look at them. But we can't really trust everything we see on the internet, as it is really easy to deceive people on the internet nowadays, especially to people of older generation, since they tend to eat up whatever the internet gives them without much thought (not all of them). We have to make sure the information we are consuming is real and true before sharing it to others.

When we consume something which is false, there are chances where we may harm ourselves or the people around us, on the internet, or in reality. One of which is accidentally giving out personal user information to the wrong hands. Who knows what those people will do to our info once weve given it to them? They may access our accounts without permission, to which they can modify the info inside our accounts to their heart's content. It would be devastating to see your account info and everything you've kept inside your account gone, wouldn't it? So make sure not to mindlessly give out precious information to the internet when you dont know just who youre giving it to.

This also applies to social media, where people like to  deliberately comment or post lies and misinformation. Other people who stumble across such comments may believe them and spread them around for others to see. So basically, don't believe what people say on the internet all the time, and dont be the ones spreading such lies and misinformation too, since they are there for everyone to see.

I think that's all that i can share. I apologize if there are any words that I've said wrong. Thank you for reading.
